Something new from Back Street Inline

If You're skating in Verducci, Simmons, and some of the new Bont boots which take the smaller 1/4 inch mounting bolts, or their metric equivalent, 6mm, we now have special washers to be used with those mounting bolts. If you notice, most frames and Ice blades available are machined to be used with 5/16" mounting bolts. These washers are designed to take up the space between the bolt and the frame, or blade cups, allowing  more secure mounting. The serrated mounting surface also helps eliminate slippage, and you won't have to make the bolts as tight, since the washers grip so much better, helping to eliminate stripped out bolts when using the smaller 5/32" Allen wrenches.

Now on some inline frames, you can't even use a washer, and you still have to grind down the front bolt to get the 2nd wheel to clear, but if you do have the room to use these washers, we highly recommend that you do. Rear mounts on inlines, and ice blades are no problem. Another thing you would need to check, is to make sure that your boots are drilled accurately. Most boots are, though I've seen some where the bolt holes aren't exactly 6.5" apart. These washers fit snug.

We have these washers custom made for us, and are made to be as thin as possible, and still offer strength. After machining, they are also
case hardened, and Zink coated.

TOOLS

#1: 5/16" X 3/4 "  Button Head  (.50 Cents Each)

These bolts are general purpose bolts to be used with boots that take the larger type mounting bolts such as most older Bonts. They work best in the rear position, or with Ice blades where clearance isn't a problem. They should be used along with the flat washers (#6) which will fit very snugly onto the bolts. When used with the washer, the length in most cases is fine. In some instances (with inlines), they may have to be ground down if they are too long. They require a 3/16" Allen wrench.

#2: 5/16" X 3/4" Specially Machined (For Clearance) Low Head ($3.00 Each)

These bolts are used also for boots that require the larger type mounting bolts. They have been specially machined down for clearance of the second wheel when used with inlines. In most cases, you won't be able to use any washers with them, but if you can, you should. Even with no washer, you may still have to further grind the bolt a bit more for clearance, and to tailor it to your application. These are the best and lowest profile bolts we've been able to find for this application. We recommend these for the front only and using #1 for the rear. They require a 5/32" Allen wrench.

#3: M 6 X 20mm Low Head (.50 Cents Each)

These bolts are for use with boots that take the smaller metric 6mm mounting bolts. They are best suited for ice blades. We recommend that they be used with our special washer (#7), as well as the flat washer (#6), which would be placed between #7 and the bolt. They require a 4mm Allen wrench, but a 5/32" works fine.

#4: M 6 X 16mm Low Head (.50 Cents Each)

These bolts are for use with boots that take the smaller 6mm mounting bolts. They are best suited for inline frames, in the rear position. We recommend that they be used with our special washer (#7), as well as the flat washer (#6), which would be placed between #7 and the bolt. They require a 4mm Allen wrench, but a 5/32" works fine.

#5: M 6 X 16mm Button Head (.50 Cents Each)

These bolts are for use with boots that take the smaller 6mm mounting bolts. They are best suited for inline frames in the front position, though they would work fine in the rear as well. They will work, where ever #4 will work, since they are basically the same, but just offer more clearance. We recommend that they be used with our special washer (#7). They will not clear the second wheel in most cases unless they are positioned all the way to one side of the frame (a lot of the new boots offer extreme offsets) . Even then, you may still have to do some grinding to tailor them to your application. They require a 4mm Allen wrench, but a 5/32" works fine.

#6: Flat Washer (.25 Cents Each)

Can be used with all of the bolts above. They fit a bit looser on the 6mm bolts, but work fine, and have to be screwed onto the 5/16" bolts (they fit very snug). Recommended to be used with special washer #7 when ever clearance allows.

#7: Our Special Washers for 6mm or 1/4" Bolts ($2.50 Each)

To be used with all the 6mm bolts above (except #8), and also 1/4" bolts. See description above.

#8: Special Extra Flat Head 6mm Bolt ($2.00 Each)

These bolts are special made bolts for boots that take the smaller 6mm mounting bolts. They are extra flat, in order to provide clearance for the 2nd wheel. There is also a shoulder which takes up the extra space in the frame slot, for a tighter fit. (just like our "special washer #7" above.) This shoulder allows the Allen wrench to go deeper into the bolt, allowing the same tightening, and loosening torque to be applied to the bolt, as can be applied to the more conventional bolts such as #'s 3, 4, & 5. No additional washers are required for use with this bolt. It is to be used with inline frames, in the front position, and can also be used in the rear. It requires a 4mm Allen wrench, but a 5/32" works fine.
